This squares with what we heard at a growers meeting last year. An ag
professor said that the aphids which spread the virus live in tall grasses.
So he advised trimming all canal and ditches around a field that support tall
weeds because of the runoff water they hold . He also said that the very
first thing an aphid does when it lands on anything is bite it.Thus no
poisons or leaf oils will repel it. It may die right after biting, but it
will bite, and the bite is what spreads the virus.
I wonder how you farmers make it. My hat is off to you.
