Re: Manure Sale

Nitrates and Phosphorus are the main concerns along with others. These
components as well as others leach into surface and ground water areas
depending on soil types. High P levels can remain in clay soils for
years. It is crucial that a nutrient analysis be taken of organic fert.
and what a given crop will take out of the ground during a season. Much
of the agricultural industry does this through testing and crop
rotations. This eliminates an over abundances of nutrients in our soils
and water sheds.
EPA has been establishing guidelines and regulations in order to control
these things and monitors through a permitting process of CAFO's and AFO.
Confined animal feeding operation and animal feeding operations of
certain animal units. The document is like an encyclopedia. Thank
goodness for the Bush administration, much of the funding won't exist to
fund these programs, but also these things will never completely go away
and we must keep everything in mind. Much of the information used was
not based on sound science, but non the less my point is that more fert
etc is not always better and to use good science and our heads in using
products .
