Report from the field

Ok, ok, so it's not really from the field just yet. It's really a report
from the germination closet.

I thought I would try the plant-the-seed-flat method. So it pulls itself
out of the seed casing as it comes up out of the dirt. Supposed to be more
natural, which sounded good to me. Anyway, I tried it with both my #1 and
#2 starts. They DID come up out of the dirt and leave the casing behind,
but I have never seen more torn up, pathetic-looking cotyledons in my life.

I won't be doing that again.
