Re: Three Classifications........


It is easy to sit back and call for a third classification, but think about
many of the smaller weigh-off sites for a minute. Adding a third class
would require more prizes, more time and more money and would further
stretch the limited resources now available. Furthermore, the distinction
between pumpkin and non pumpkin would remain clouded. 

At the Altoona weigh-off last year we had several squash entries. They were
all very nice looking and just stood out from the pumpkins. You could see
them plainly from the other side of the parking lot. No need for grids,
percentages or whatever, they were ovbiously squash. I talked with Tony
Ciliberto and some others about it later and they all very much agreed.
Before we go down the dark road of subclasses, lets look at the basics. If
it is not a squash, then it's a pumpkin!
