Truth is: Atlantic Giant had plenty of off color specimens early on - yes -
SQUASH! Howard Dill bred Atlantic Giants and Show King at the same time in
the same place.
Truth is: No matter what the rules are Topsfield will break them if it does
not fit into their promotional agenda ( for the long term or for a specific
day), because Hugh Wiberg is committed to a sponsor. Heck, in 1989 they
kicked out the World Record Holder because of prize money (and promotion)!
The Topsfield Fair signed a legal license agreement with the WPC and broke 13
items in the agreement. That is why Topsfield was kicked out of the WPC and
Ray Waterman became the bad guy and a character assination was begun in the
name of the "Great Pumpkin Commonwealth"! Now you have Hugh Wiberg running
the whole mess and doing the same thing - wake up!
Truth is: You can make all the rules you want and it won't make any
difference.
