If you guys want to see something really orange, close to read orange...check out this pumpkin...http://www.bigpumpkins.com/DisplayPhoto.asp?pid=757
This one was the nicest color i have even seen, atleast in person anyways. It is the 706 Olsen 2001 (its only flaw is the scars you can see on it from when it was scratched when it was younger). It was grown from the 597 Keyzer 00. The 597 also grew the 765 Weidman 2001, which had the best shape of any pumpkin I have seen, but the color was not there like in the 706. link to 765 Weidman...http://www.bigpumpkins.com/DisplayPhoto.asp?pid=759
The 597 cross is 825 shymanski x 697 Ciliberto. I would venture to say the 706 is somewhat of a "freak of nature" with that color coming out of that seed (that cross)...the great color genes are both in the 825 and even the 697. It can throw nice color so i guess with the right combination and walla!! FIre Red Orange...
EnJOy!!
