Re: Chicken manure....Good or No?


Well all manure of any kind should be composted and tested.  Chicken manure 
is a bit more richer than that of other poultry.  Those kinds of manures with 
get the best resulted in yr 3 -4 and do not need to be amended yearly.  
Shavings and ricehull commonly used in poultry bedding will rob Nitrogen and 
other products will breaking down.  Before that time most of the energy will 
contribute to green growth; once put some turkey manure on the neighbors 
oats, 7' tall , lodged, and never filled.  Compost, test, and for gods sake 
more it not better, a crop can only pull out X amount of nutrients, the rest 
stay, leach, etc, into who knows where.  Just a few thoughts.  Good luck to
