       I have jack rabbits also. I use fine netting to cover the plants as 
they sprout. I have noticed that the rabbits do not bother the plants once 
they get to the stage where they begin to vine. I am theorizing that the 
leaves are too tough and the vines are covered in those fine hairs, making 
them unpalatable to the rabbits.  Last year the rabbits chewed off all the 
first and second leaves. My husband thought it was hysterical to hear me 
cursing the very same animals I was calling "cute little bunnies"just a few 
weeks earlier. I had to start over. If jack rabbits ever become an endangered 
species, I will not campaign to save them. (joking)
