Bob said what I wanted to say but couldn't find the words.
I stumbled into this place last October while searching Google for a pumpkin
beer recipe. I immediately felt a calling to grow the big one in the
unsuitable climate of my rocky central Texas yard. This site provided me with
seed, information, and encouragement (thank you).
I'm sure my questions were redundant but many of you took the time to answer
them anyway. I am not sure how to get into the archives and usually don't
have time with my modern busy-family lifestyle, though I'll try and do better
in that area.
The level of knowledge in group is staggering. I enjoy reading differing
opinions, such as organic vs. banned chemicals, and deciding for myself
which way to go.
I have planted a few 143.5 Hathorn watermelon seeds and, because of this
site, am waiting until June 1 to plant, potentially,
a 580 Bhaskaran, a 475 Millican, and a Zunino "Butterbuns".
I also plan to attempt a fall planting of a few as it remains fairly warm
here until December. (Any advice there would be greatly appreciated)
I don't believe this site is dying, but I'd hate to see valuable membership
go elsewhere.
Some of us need you
Thanks for everything.

Count me in too. I find this list very useful in many ways and the
archives are very easy to navigate.
I enjoy reading and responding to the posts and if it's something I'm
not interested in, it's easy to hit "delete". It's like going to the
mail box; it's nice to go see what has arrived. (Unless of course there
huge bills!)
I think one reason some growers don't respond to a question may be
because someone did not agree with there answer in the past and there
goes WWIII.
In some cases, there is no one correct answer. What works for some, may
not work for others due to different geographical locations etc. but it
is interesting to read different growing methods. Gets the wheels
turning in the brain which often leads to other new ideas.
Maybe what we need is someone who has the time and expertise to give the
webmaster a hand on the technical issues.
Bob
