RE: Eris's Blown Tiller

Hey Eric,

It is nice to see action here again. I just secured some new land to grow on
which is exciting.

In a prior life I ran a power equipment shop. Please don't spend $800 to fix
that thing.

If this is a cheapo disposable tiller (Tecumseh motor?) then you're better
off with a replacement. If it is marginally good & you're handy with tools,
you might try Northern Tool where a 5.5 B&S is only $199.

However if this thing came with a Tecumseh engine it probably isn't worth
fixing.

I would start looking for an older Troybilt Horse with a K-series Kohler
engine. All cast iron engine & transmission means year & years of service so
long as the fluids are changed regularly.

Checking in from Danville in Northern California. Good to see the list
start up again. Must mean seeds are starting to see dirt. Mine went in
yesterday. However my old Troy Bilt Horse died yesterday. Engine shattered
internally in a cloud of smoke. Quite flamboyant, but dead none the less.
Now looking for either a new tiller or a good Tecumseh engine to replace it
with. Shop wants like $800. Anyone know a good source or "where" in
general I would look for a used or new engine.

Thanks
