Re: Who's out there

Great topic! I'm Steve Eichorn and I live about 30 miles south of
Rochester NY with my wife, Karen, two wacko cats, a blind Beagle, a Lab, and
now a new Newf-a-dor puppy, ( a Newfoundland and Labrador cross ). I've been
on this list about a year and a half, and have made alot of friends online.
The amount of information here is unbelieveable! Last year, we grew five with
the biggest, being about 285 and the rest avg. about 225. I'm hoping to grow
the same amount this year but also maybe doubling the weight! this is a
hobby that can get you hooked but good! Vacations are canceled, meals
missed!, behavior becomes very strange, (I used a very good down sleeping bag
to cover one of mine last year!), neighbors begin to talk about you in hushed
voices, "They were such a nice couple and now we don't see them hardly
anymore and when they talk, all they talk about is giants in the Atlantic!"
Seriously, growing Ag's has become such a family thing and I recommend it
to all. My wife has M. S. and last summer, we spent alot of quality time in
the "patch" watering, fert. etc. We didn't realize until too late, about the
tremendous growth that takes place in August, and we went camping for two
weeks. When we got back, they were too heavy to move, so we had stem stress
and breaks which stunted growth. We want to have a "big one" this year, but
if not it's OK, the fun is in the growing for us, and gives us a chance to be
outside together, doing something we both enjoy.
To the new people, listen to what the "ol-timers" have to offer and
remember
slow growth is good growth! Steve
