Chris:

Likewise I'm growing in an area with a lot of houses and a lot of coons. 
I've never seen a problem with them on the giant pumpkins or the regular
field pumpkins.  My sweetcorn is another story.......I had to stop trapping
them when we started getting the neighbors cats, dogs, and little kids
caught in them.   


Just kidding-we never caught any of the neighbor kids.  


As if we didn't have enough other problems to worry about in our pumpkin
patches!
