Filling Seeds?

Ok, What is the process...I'm on my knees...please please......

I notice a tiny hole that exist naturally on some seeds, and I guess
this
is to admit moisture. Filing would ensure that this hole is open, and it
would
make the shell easier to open. 

What are we required to file? The end, side, top...which side and how
much?

Eight seeds started and noting.......besides my 12 foot pumpkin vines...
