Re: Who will be the winner in 98

Well,
I just got the inside scoop on just who will be the undisbuted pumpkin
heavyweight champion of the world. It will go to the person who grows the
heaviest pumpkin. Due to my overwhelming confidence, I can safely say that
that person will either be a male or a female, and use atlantic giant seeds.
Now that I am through being a smart ass, here is an update on the northwest
heavy hitters. The LaRues are battling high salts in their soil which may
increase the likelihood of splits. I don't believe this to be a problem they
can't remedy however for they are to be kneeled in front of as far as pumpkin
growing is concerned. Also on that knee list, Kirk is cutting back on sites
this year. Will this be a problem? Doubtful, 2 plants wil most probably be
#567's. The Hollands have moved to new property, and although Joel is a
pumpkingod as well, it takes a year or so to get soil really ready for world
championship status. The sleepers are The Emmons, Paul Handy, and the
Richarts. The world champion will come from one of the above mentioned
growers because El Nino said so (hot and humid in the Pacific Northwest this
summer).
Take Care and Good Luck
The Pumpkinguru, and no, I don't think I'll gro a world chamion this year. I
have a good feeling about 800+ though.
