Mark,
I have found that my seeds start in less than a week, with this method.
Take a planting tray, fill half way with moist, (not wet), Jiffy
Mix(your brand of potting soil. Tamp it down. Soak your seeds for 1-2
hours in luke warm water. Stick the AG seed in , half way with the
pointy side down, and then fill over the seed with some more pre
moistened Jiffy Mix/Potting soil. The second covering of soil should
only be about a half inch above the seed.
Lightly tamp the top coating of mix down and put inside of a plastic
garbage bag(the kind you get from the grocery store to take groceries
home in). Fold the top flaps around the underside of the tray, put on
top of your refigerator(or comparable warm spot), and let it sit for 1
week, checking periodically. DO NOT WATER! There is enough moisture in
the mix.
After a week, you will have plants about 5 inches tall. Atleast that is
what happened with me this year. :)
100 % germination rate!! Andersen 977 and 815, Holland 897 and 649 all
doing very well!! Seed coats are off as of today...
