Seed auctions can be on the list, just send your bid to the seller via
his/her private email address.
I had auctions last year, and I received numerous bids in private.
Then I would post the results daily.
The pumpkin societies need revenue, and these seed auctions is one
source.
Of course, there will be a few who don't know how to post to someone
privatly, so they send it to the list.
Duncan.

hi, i,m writing to ask if there isn,t some way to allow seed
auctions on the list. i have to admit it was far more interesting watching
and participating than it was to read about some people misunderstanding
one another and going on for days about some imagined slight. besides if the
auction is for charity how can you say no? also it does concern pumpkins.
perhaps if it were restricted to just running the results and if you
wanted you would have to bid privately. this is as it should be anyway. pumpkin
growing is supposed to be a fun competition and in case you hadn,t noticed the
list got very quiet after the boom was dropped. there must be some
way we can work this out without some other chatline or what ever. this is
agreat list and i would hate to see people move to another site because of a
misunderstanding or whatever . thanx for your
time
