   Great to hear the seeds are up and looking good! When you add manure it 
lowers your pH. There is a lime that is faster acting, the one they use for 
outhouses, forget the name. Be careful it's not good to breath it in, but it 
will get your pH up faster.
Do you have Burke's 1092? The CT. Exp. station will test your soil for free 
and tell you how much fert. to add. Also don't waste your time trying to mix 
your own go to Home D or Lowes there are plenty of premixed fert. on the 
market. I'm sure you can find a mix that suits your needs. I think the piping 
idea has a lot of merit. I will be out of town for a week, talk to you then.
