Limestone (ag limestone is calcium carbonate) finer ground will act
faster.
Burnt lime is above roasted = calcium oxide. very hot stuff!
slaked lime or hydrated lime is what you are talking about = it is
calcium hydroxide, a weaker, insoluble relative lye.
I have known of farmers using all these --not at same time.
I would stick with limestome or dolomite if you can get dolomite.
