Doug, here's my method. I take 2 15' pieces of 2" PVC pipe and connect them. Then I connect the covering to the pipe, a few small screws work well along the tarp edge. Try to leave some room on edge of piping for anchoring. I erect 3 verticle pieces in middle of plot about 2' higher than plant.Put one on each end and then one in middle of plant area. Then you can run pipe length between the three. This middle one is just to keep tarp off plant.I also put verticle pieces in each corner, with connectors attached. Pull tarp over plant and connect the tarp pipe ends to the verticle pieces. I usually don't glue the pipes so I can pull them apart later. I've used this method for 2 years and it has worked great. Handles wind well, and assuming you pound the pvc pieces deep enough, they will easily stay up all season. What I really like about it is thatn when you don't need it, you can roll up the tarp on the pipe and keep it to the side for quick use if you need it.We get hail up her!
e in Minnesota, and a quick respose is neede in those moments. Total cost of piping is around $20, and will last longer than your tarp will.Hope I explained this well enough.Happy Growing.Pumpkinpiper
