Is a Queensland Blue anything like the Norwegian Blue? :)

Yes, Atlantic Giant will cross with Queensland Blue, since both are
Curcurbita maxima. (For those interested in a picture of a
Queensland Blue, see

To tie in a second thread, while I was searching for Queensland Blue on
the Google web search engine, I came across a gene list for Curcurbita
species. I thought Harold and the other budding geneticists on the list
might find it highly interesting. It is at

http://probe.nalusda.gov:8000/otherdocs/cgc/squash.htm

It mentions that the following genes (among others) exist for C. Maxima:

"bl" for blue fruit color that is incompletely recessive to green.
"Rd" for Red skin. Red external fruit color; dominant to green, white,
     yellow, and gray.

I didn't see anything about seed color, for those who were discussing that.

It is an interesting list.

Regards,

Shaun
