Drawing Figures

I have made this request on many lists and never gotten any answers.
Does anyone know how get drawings in .gif quickly.
I do not have a scanner or stylus pad and drawing with a mouse is so
clumsy. With pencil and paper I can make adequate biological drawings.
My immediate desire is to get from my sketches to a .gif showing the
structure of tan pumpkin seeds.
My usual method is to sketch with the mouse using paintbrush which
comes with windows. Then I use Zoom IN of paintbrush and work on the
dots to get the desired figure.bmp and then I use Graphic WorkShop to
convert the .bmp to .gif. That is an excellent method but it takes
forever.
