location of stomata and misting/foliar feeding

Here is a question about watering system design: if I use misting both
to foliar feed and to prevent wilting, should I aim for the bottom or the
top of the leaves? On one hand, I understand that leaves absorb
nutrients through stomata which are present in higher numbers on the
underside. That would argue for application from below. On the other
hand, I have heard that misting prevents wilting by evaporative cooling
more than water absorption. This would suggest application from above where
the sunlight is strong.

Can some plant physiologist out there corroborate this story? The answer
could lead me to redesign my misting system (which currently delivers a
fine spray, vs a fog, from above).

Thanks!
