How does the inside of 1000 pound pumpkin get Oxygen to produce the
pounds per day of gain?
Is lack of air the main limiting factor in growth. Glucose is produced
in the leaves and travels to the fruit and roots. ATP is required for
its metabolism into amino acids, cellulose, etc. Regeneration of the
spent ADP requires glucose and oxygen. How can these huge volumes of
oxygen get into the fruit?
I don't recall any book addressing this point.
