Not much happening in Colorado
Just a short Colorado update.
The heat isn't helping things here - 26 days in July > 90 (the normal is 30
days over 90 for the entire summer) and every day in August > 95 so far. It
rained twice in July - no hail to speak of. The leaves on my plants look
like they are about 100 years old.
I had 100% pollination success and am down to 1 plant in my garden - the
Hester 850 - with 2 pumpkins on it. I'll be culling down to 1 pumpkin this
week. Every female but one was a 4 segment flower. The plant and the
pumpkin both are slow growers. The main is about 25', the pumpkin is a 6
segment flower, 12' out on the main, and is 22 days old. It measured this
morning at 63.5 - 44 - 41 --> 148.5 OTT --> 78 pounds. I'm about 40 pounds
behind last year at this time.
