Woodchuck weilds weapons???
Yes, you may think this is a "pulling your leg" story, but its not.
I have a gopher (or a mole, wookchuck, groundhog, etc. I don't know
the difference) in my garden as of late. He (she?) had been popping
up in various spots (its a BIG garden) but last week he popped up
near one of my pumpkin plants. And there, stuck right into one of
my pumpkins on the vine was a piece of jagged metal, rusty and
corroded for years, as if it was an old piece of construction debris
that was buried in the ground. Of course it caused a wound in the
pumpkin (it is not an AG, but rather one of my Jack O'Lantern variety)
and the wound is oozing out. Now, this is not a great loss, but do
gophers arm themselves!!! Have they entered the iron age? What's
next, will they pull a gun on me and my family? "Stick'em up buddy!!
Hand over the curcubits!! NOW!!!"
I would think that this creature could just take a bite out of my pumpkin
but maybe it's teeth aren't positioned right, so maybe its doing what it
can to get at it.
I swear, I'm telling the truth.
Am I nuts? Do I need to take up arms in defense?
Sincerely, Cliff, dazed in Idaho
