Yo Jon,
Try and dry the area and put fungicide POWDER on. You may have to
scoop out some goo first. I think the reason it rots is beacuse after a leaf
breaks off some water and/or fertiliser gets in and stagnates in the hollow
thats left which in turn starts the rot. I put bits of aluminium foil over
these broken joints to prevent this from happening.
