1) Yes ,,,,,,,,, Tertiary vines. Not secondary or side vines.

2) No. Let the main vine continue to grow beyond the pumpkin as long as the main wants to. ( some growers prefer to terminate them at some point, but that's a personal decision.)  Some terminate the side vines at some point also but I would say that mainly depends on how much space you have. Some growers prefer heavy pruning, others don't.

 Any Other opinions out there on length of main's and side's ??
