What should I do?
Hi Guys & Ladies!
My lovely 573 Stucker went from zero to 67 [166 OTT] in 22 days, then
quit growing on a vine that began to die. Like those tragic little kids
with that disease where they get old really fast, make a wish and go to
Disneyland, then die of old age at 10 or 12.
Right now it's still on the vine, all orange and warty like a miniature
replica of yours that I've seen at weighoffs. What I want to know is:
1. Can I retrieve viable seeds from this fruit? Mr Ray Barenchi says NO,
it's not mature. I say it acts very mature for its age.
2. If it was a disease that felled it, would that affect the seeds?
3. If it was the virus carried by the cucumber beetle that delivered the
fatal blow, would that affect the seeds?
I loved this plant. I love this fruit, my new personal best for now,
perfectly round and vividly orange.
Thanks!
Kathie
