I had two do that this year on my 995 Carter. Right about the
same age. They first got ribby like they were getting old fast
and then just stopped cold. The only difference is my vines
were perfectly healthy.
Sounds like something got your vine and the fruit just starved.
Not much to do but bury the dead and tend to the living.
