Re: 1140 Stelts
I hate to say it, but that is the problem with some of these 1000lb'er plus
seedstocks. A lot of the pumpkin seeds that come out of pumpkins that were
over 1000+lbs do not grow a viable pumpkin (another words these are unproven
seeds).
I myself grew a 1020 Papez seed, had nothing but problems,... grew a huge
thick FLAT vine (2 to 3 foot across leaves) which I was able to cut off,
then once I got the vines fixed to grow a more normal stage vine , all the
pumpkins that grew on it grew to the size of a basket ball and then aborted.
Another words this plant is genetically not 'right'. I even crossed it with
a proven seedstock pollen but to no avail.
Your problems can be in the genetic mix of the seed. Did you cross your
1140 Stelt with another seedstock (pollen from another proven seed)?

ONE. Great plant, looks real healthy, every vine is fat with big leaves,
even handled the couple of hot days that we had, but, it's nuts. Peanuts
that is. All it grows is BIG peanut shaped things, with deep ribs that
crack between the ribs at about 100 lbs. Is there something I'm doing that
causes the peanut shape? Loren, did you put the Mr. Peanut Hex on me?
