RE: Whats in a name

As soon as you get one pollinated you can name it what ever you want. The seed from such pumpkin takes your name. So if you grow a 634 pound pumpkin this year next year the seed will be known as the 634 O’Rourke. I have names or a few of my pumpkins this year I have Troy Boy from the 654 Troy and Holly from the 1049 Hollands and Flat Head from the 874 Pugh and then Fatso from the Hunt 991

Subject: Whats in a name

This question from a newbie is probably a little, no not a little, but quite a bit ahead of myself.  I would like to know, "when do you get to name a pumpkin your growing as your own?"  I ask this question with the greatest humility in mind, but I would like to name a pumpkin after my Dad who is ill.  Thanks
