Hi all,
Yesterday was the day where all exhibitors bring their
stuff to the fair. It started with Harold Jorgensen of
Blackfoot bringing a 300+ pounder, and also a giant
squash of around 200. I brought my second choice, a pale
250 pounder. Then Brian Christensen showed up with a
420 EST. Big deal you say? Well, around here this is
still a pretty new thing. They don't know what to do with
these relatively massive gourds, much less where to put
them. Several other growers brought in smaller AGs.
Right now, they're lined up in the aisle where people
are supposed to walk when the fair starts....
We had ladies with clipboards walking around saying, "We've
got to do something about this. Maybe we need to open up
a whole new space, just for these big pumpkins." I had
several people give me their emails, etc. wanting information
on "how do you get them that big?" The point is, with
thousands of people walking past these small giants over the
next 8 days we're promoting the sport, bit by bit.
Top prize in the category... 6 bucks! We do it for the fun
of it.
Regards, Cliff
