RE: bad news

This may not make you feel any better but last year my Hunt 991 was so
wind blown that all I had left was a main vine and two to five leafs and
it ended up being my biggest and healthiest plant and the only plant
that gave me a pumpkin for weigh off no huge by any means but still my
369.5 was my very best so far and a great looking pumpkin. You can see
it at my web site sitting next to me in my Caravan

Subject: bad news

well a hail storm friday, coupled with high winds have trashed all 4 of
my
plants. the hail was from pea sized up to golfball sized and the winds
were
up to 60 miles and hour. mind you the wind speed is a guess. so my 3 660
Koch plants and my one 840 Derosiers plant are basically dead. there is
still some activity (i.e. green leaves and all) but the vines are all
busted
open and the remaining leaves are full of holes. so i guess we will see
what
happens.

what fun for a first year grower

craig
