re: greenhouse shade over pumpkin plants

Iused 60 % shade cloth this year.  Plus, burlap on top of that when it was
really hot.  Sometimes I worried I was keeping the pumpkin too cool, but also
worried about too much sun making the skin hard.  My pumpkin grew 10# a day
during the hottest weather with almostcomplete shade and a lot of misting.
The weather is in the 80's now which should be ideal, but its growth has
slowed down and it looks liek it is getting mature (deepening grooves and
turning orange).  I hope less shade didn't hasten maturity.  It seems like it
is hard to do everything right with giant pumpkins.
