I normally cut off the secondaries and the tap roots 3ft on each side of the
pumpkin and sometimes put gallon milk jugs with water in each side for
support and to ease the stem stress. (Careful on doing this, don't bend your
MV!!!!) For fungicide, I use Daconcil and use a brush and "paint" it on the
areas...I think this is better than mixing dirt and captan....however, I did the
later for years also.
