What is this wound?

The same thing happen to my pumpkins a month ago. I thought it would be a
good idea to drape plastic shade cloth over my pumpkins. Well it wasnt!! When it
got hot I think the shade cloth gave off chemicals or something and burnt
spots over my pumpkins. Some of the spots are ok, but some are getting deeper. I
put captain on them and hoping for the best. They could cause problems as the
fruit reaches maturity. DO NOT PUT SHADE CLOTH OVER PUMPKINS
