Re: Bees
In the 7 or 8 years that I've been the steward of the land that I currently live on, it's been exciting to see the increase in bees, birds, ladybugs, worms, all the good creatures. At the same time I've seen a marked decrease in cucumber beetles. I think that this year the birds are so prolific that the cucumber beetles don't have a chance. Well, I'm not an expert, but that's what I see here.
Feed the soil with organic matter and you'll have worms. Keep lots of flowers in bloom and the bees will happily do their thing and not bother you. Plant things that the birds can live in and feed on, and they'll be around. I don't know why I've been inundated with ladybugs, but I have them by the thousands.
As for wasps, as has been mentioned, you need to find their hive. I don't care about them but others in my family will go with a spray can and zap them anyway.
