While we are on the subject of "water", my wife had a water softener installed
at the beginning of our water supply which uses salt pellets. Every time I
water the garden I have been turning the valve to "non-softened" water. Which
way is best for the AG's the hard water or the soft water?

OMG don't ever use anything with sodium in it. If you want to guarantee
lower weights, add sodium! Sodium is extremely bad for plants. Also, don't
use water from a pool. it will be too salty and plant cannot take up the
water. Salt is not table salt. Salt in water is everything that can dissolve
such as carbonates, calcium, mg, etc, etc.
