Ah, the genes! I forgot all about the genes! The parent was a pale green thing, a mere 718 lbs, but I used seeds from it to test all the info I've received from all you good folks over the years. Only 6 weeks to the Vermont Giant Vegetable Growers Association weight off at Sam Mazza's, Colchester, VT, October 11th. Talk about a shameless plug. Steve, I agree with Bart. Did the seed you're growing this plant from havegood orange genes behind it? If the genes aren't there it may never turnorange no matter how much sun exposure it gets. If its going to color up itwill happen. I wouldn't expose it to the sun until two weeks before yourweigh-off. When it does color up it may turn some crazy ugly mix of colors anyway, if thats whats going to happen and you expose it to the sun now you'lljust end up with a smaller ugly pumpkin. I have kept it well shaded, and it is almost white. Do I worry about the color, or do I just grow it big? This my first big giant.--------------------------------------------------------------------- Pumpkin-growing archives: http://www.hort.net/lists/pumpkins/ To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE PUMPKINS --------------------------------------------------------------------- Pumpkin-growing archives: http://www.hort.net/lists/pumpkins/ To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE PUMPKINS
