Used 20 Mule Team Borax on the stem. This worked! The stem has "filled" and
"scabbed". We finally got some dry weather that has assuredly helped. We
applied Borax on Saturday and have a weight GAIN today. The stem looks like
half of itself but is pumping H2O. I will keep posted as I realize the final
conclusion to a theory must be tested by data analysis.
