for control of powdery mildew with milk you need to use 40% milk. There is nice research done by Matt D. on the Team-Pumpkin website. http://www.team-pumpkin.org/
click on the 'milk' link on the left to see the data. Bart Pumpkin Lady wrote:

I try to not use pesticides and grow organic as the AG's are around the rest of the garden. For organic mildew solutions, you have at least two choices. 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp light cooking oil & a few drops of Ivory dishwashing soap to 1 quart of water; or 1 part milk to 5 parts water. Spray leaves and stems early in the day or very late in the day. If it is too warm your plant will crispy critter, especially with the oil solution.I've never used milk, but several people I know who grow squash have, I use the oil and baking soda and it works like a champ for me.I'd be more inclined to try milk now. Used to be I never had it in the house, now I have dairy goats and it is almost always at hand. ;-)Happy growing, Morgan --------------------------------------------------------------------- Pumpkin-growing archives: http://www.hort.net/lists/pumpkins/ To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE PUMPKINS
