Re: Snakes

Oh, I'm not afraid of them. In fact, we had to rescue one recently, the smallest I have even seen. It had crawled aboard a white-fly card for what seemed to be a feast laid in his honor. From the waist down, he was stuck, but we removed the card from its hanging place and laid it down at an angle to the earth. This enabled the racer to "attach" his above-the-waist section to the good earth. It was wonderful to see how by using his chest muscles, belly muscles or whatever, he was able to overcome the adhesion of the WF card, free himself and slither away with no permanent damage. Last I saw he was headed for Idaho (Hi, Cliff!).

When I visit my pumpkin, it always has one or more garter snakes (racers) on
it. Should this concern me?

Thanks!

Kathie
