I don't think it will make much difference if you use 05 versus 08. There is
probably the same amount of error involved. When the pumpkins are small
(<100lb) like the ones I've had I find the circumference is just as accurate
as OTT too. It's just an estimate. I would imagine most of the tightening up
of the estimates are at the highest end of the size range (new world
records) because that's the only place where new data observations come in
where none were available before. In 05 there hadn't been any pumpkins over
1600 (or even 1500?). Now there are several to plug in. Most of us don't
have to worry about being in those lofty heights of the regression curve.
