Dave,
Thanks for the advice. My patch is very close to the house, last year I had
one go down on me and I just left it. I found out that was a mistake. My
wife likes to go out and pick roses which are nearby and the fragrance of a
rotting pumpkin got me into some trouble.
When I was a youngster, my father raised pumpkins for the Jack-o-lantern
trade. He would always bring in about 30-50 feeder pigs and we fed them
pumpkins along with some grain. They seemed to like them a lot and fatten
up quite nicely.
By the way, I checked and noticed that the one of the larger pumpkins I have
is one of your crosses. It has a beautiful color and shape. I couldn't
read the tag too well, when I find out which cross I will let you know.
