Sugar Maples are dying in record numbers in the Northeast. Have been
for years now. Rare to see a big old one. Air pollution. It may someday
be the "Last Buffalo" When was the last time you saw an American Elm?
They were beautiful at the turn of the Century. Now you can't find one.
A Stately tree. New Haven, CT is called the "Elm City" for it's city
green was covered in them. See if you can Google a picture of the adult
tree, and what the New Haven green looked like a 100 years ago.
Beautiful. All gone now.

do not kill a healthy tree. It would be a shame to destroy a tree which
will otherwise likely outlive us, for the sake of a plant which, at
best, will live a few weeks. From the message I suspect it is illegal
as well. Find another way to grow a pumpkin. Perhaps a neighbor,
community garden, or your front lawn, instead of the back? Ron C. On
