My wife prepared and cooked about a dozen pumpkin flowers (male) and they
were great. They were stuffed with cheese, herbs, etc. and looked like
chile rellenos.
Although most the recipes offered over the past few days suggested using
zuccini blossoms, I've only one hill planted with a round zuke. I do have
dozens of male pumpkin blossoms every day - a bumper crop I tried to take
advantage. The pumpkin flowers are larger than the zuke blossoms, but they
taste like zuccini squash.
From what I've heard people don't eat the flesh of Atlantic Giant Pumpkins.
It is said to be unpalitable. Is that true? No giant pumpkin pies from
giant pumpkins? If true, the AG flower blossoms might be the only tasty
thing grown on the plant.
