Seperate But One!

One of my AG plants has split into two seperate vines going in opposite directions at the very base. The vines are burried along their lenth and they have devoloped a nice sized pumpkin on both vines. Each pumpkin is approximately the size of a basketball. I was wondering if I should clip one of the pumpkins or leave them both go, because it seems that both are like seperate plants altogether? Also, should I clip the excess vine growth beyond the pumpkins?

Thanks,

Mike Burke
