Crack repair

Help!

My only good pumpkin has developed a crack due to pulling of a side vine
. I have removed the side vine and treated with captan.  This worked for
two days, then the crack began to ooze sap and made a little icicle-like
ooze pile.

Any success out there with crack repair?  This crack is about 1/8 inch
deep  and 1 inch long, crosswise accross the top of the stem
