I agree with Jim. On average, the first two weeks of August have averaged
10-15 degrees below normal. This really slows down the rate of growth,
especially during the peak growing time.
One of my larger pumpkins has also split at the blossom end. This happened
when the rate of growth was about 15 pounds per day.
