Hormones

Vanessa:

Plant growth regulators (hormones) is another interesting subject. I
don't think its taboo to talk about it, but I do think many people have
been reluctant to discuss it.

There are a number of PGR's that are involved in fruit growth as with any
other plant function. For example cytokinins are largely responsible for
regulating cell division, and auxins are involved in cell expansion.
After learning how these PGR's regulate fruit enlargement I thought that
something could be done to increase their concentration in the plant or the
fruit-like is done is many commercial fruit and vegetable crops. I've
given up on the notion though-there doesn't seem to be enough information
around.

In theory it seems like it should be feasible, but I haven't heard of
anyone anywhere that had found the magic combination of PGR's in a
deliverable form that caused super fruit enlargement.
